Meet Ichingo Chobe River Lodge Host: Cassius Tebuho

Warm Heart, Big Smile

We are thrilled to introduce Cassius Tebuho as your new Host at Ichingo Chobe River Lodge. With his warm heart and big smile, Cassius lights up any room. His passion for fishing, birding, and the wildlife of the Chobe River is truly inspiring. We are incredibly grateful for his dedicated service over the years and are excited about his future as Ichingo’s Host.

Cassius’ Local Expertise is Unparalleled

Cassius has been a guide at Ichingo for seven years, and his life is intrinsically intertwined with the rhythm of the Chobe River. Born in Namibia, Cassius is not only an expert fisherman but also an exceptional host who ensures every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of. His life-long experience on the river is evident in the way he can expertly navigate the waters and its rapids.

Cassius’s extensive knowledge of the Chobe River and its wildlife is remarkable. He has caught thousands of fish, including Tigerfish, Nembwe, Three-Spotted Bream, Tilapia, and Squeakers. His expertise in fishing, particularly fly-fishing, is invaluable to our guests.

Master Fly-Fishing with Cassius

Cassius loves fly-fishing and not only does he know what flies will work in specific conditions but he also knows exactly where to fish them.

“My favourite fish is Tigerfish but fly-fishing is very good when you hook a bream, it’s very nice. So many tigerfish, 6 kg, 7kg, 9 kg, 10kg… I was so happy when I caught a 9.7 kg tigerfish on fly, it was a very important day fishing in the Kasai channel. I was using a black and purple clouser. That clouser works very well”, he quips.

His advice for catching tigerfish is simple: “Keep changing your flies. The technique is easy, just keep casting to the bank, listen to one another, and work closely with your guide. Your guide can show you the best spots and teach you a lot, helping you catch more fish.”
